  • The Signs Around Us: A Divine Connection?

The idea that we are constantly connected to a higher power—whether we call it God, the Universe, or Divine Energy—is one that has resonated with me throughout my spiritual journey. This belief was brought to life in a rather unexpected, but profound, way just the other day. I had been casually scrolling through YouTube when I came across a video about spirit animals based on your birth month. A simple, fun video—nothing too serious, I thought. As I watched, I learned that for March, my birth month, the spirit animal is a dolphin, a creature often associated with intelligence, joy, and emotional depth. For February, the spirit animal is a hawk, symbolic of vision, awareness, and keen perception.

Little did I know that this seemingly random discovery would manifest in my life in a way I couldn’t have anticipated.

    The Encounter with the Hawk

The following morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to start my day. After breakfast, I grabbed my car keys, walked to the garage, and prepared to head out. It was an ordinary morning, nothing unusual. I backed my car out of the garage, started down the block, and then had to stop abruptly.

There, in the middle of the road, stood a hawk. But this wasn’t just any bird—it was a magnificent, powerful creature, standing around 22 to 24 inches tall, with striking features and piercing eyes that seemed to look directly into my soul. What was extraordinary about this encounter wasn’t just the bird’s sheer presence, but the feeling of calm that washed over me. This hawk was completely undisturbed by the car, by my presence. It just stood there, almost as if it were waiting for something—or maybe delivering a message.

I sat there for a moment, our eyes locked. Neither of us moved, and I felt a sense of connection that’s hard to describe. There was no fear, no rush to move. It felt as though time had slowed, and in that moment, there was only the hawk and me. As I took in the situation, I began to quietly recite Ayatul Kursi and the 4 Quls, which I often do in moments that feel spiritually significant. I felt the need to confirm to myself the sacredness of the moment, to affirm that this was no accident, and to ensure the atmosphere remained peaceful and protected.

To my surprise, the hawk didn’t flinch. It wasn’t bothered by the recitations, nor did it seem disturbed by my presence. Instead, it seemed to acknowledge my spiritual practice in its own silent way before spreading its majestic wings and soaring into the sky.

In that moment, I felt a deep sense of peace and connection, a knowing that this wasn’t just a random encounter, but a divine moment of communication.

    Spiritual Reflection: Signs from God

This experience led me to reflect on how God communicates with us in everyday life. In my experience, God’s messages don’t always come through words or even thoughts. More often than not, they come through actions, events, visions, and the world around us. We are constantly surrounded by signs if we are willing to open our hearts and minds to see them.

For centuries, mystics, spiritual seekers, and ordinary people alike have believed that God speaks to us in ways that transcend language. From the gentle breeze that calms a troubled soul to the unexpected encounter with a stranger offering exactly the words you needed to hear, divine communication is all around us. Sometimes, it’s as subtle as a whisper, and other times, it’s as bold as a hawk stopping you in the middle of the road.

I believe that this hawk was a sign, a divine nudge to remind me of the need to remain aware, to be watchful, and to trust that God’s guidance is always present. Whether through animals, nature, or events, these signs serve as reminders that we are never truly alone in our journey. God is constantly guiding us, even in ways we might not immediately understand.

    The Significance of Spirit Animals

The idea of spirit animals is deeply rooted in various spiritual and cultural traditions around the world. Different animals carry symbolic meanings and are believed to offer guidance, wisdom, and protection to those who encounter them. The hawk, as I learned, is a creature of keen vision and awareness. It represents the ability to see things clearly, both physically and metaphorically. Hawks are often seen as messengers, bridging the earthly and spiritual realms.

In Native American culture, the hawk is considered a powerful symbol of awareness and insight. It encourages us to pay attention to the subtle details in life and to trust in our ability to perceive the truth. In ancient Egyptian mythology, the hawk was associated with the god Horus, who symbolized the sky and protection. In both cases, the hawk is seen as a creature that watches over us and helps us navigate life’s complexities with clarity and purpose.

For me, encountering the hawk wasn’t just about seeing a beautiful bird in the wild. It was about recognizing the deeper meaning behind the encounter. This hawk, with its calm demeanor and sharp gaze, was a reminder to stay vigilant, to remain present, and to trust in the guidance that is always available to us.

Personal Connection: The Power of Ayatul Kursi

When I recited Ayatul Kursi and the 4 Quls, I did so instinctively. In moments of awe or uncertainty, turning to these sacred verses brings me a sense of protection and peace. Ayatul Kursi is known as one of the most powerful verses in the Quran, offering protection from harm and spiritual clarity. Reciting it in the presence of the hawk felt like a way to honor the moment, to verify its sacredness, and to affirm my connection to the divine.

What stood out to me was how the hawk remained unaffected by my recitations. It didn’t fly away or seem disturbed. Instead, it stood there calmly, almost as if it were acknowledging the spiritual nature of the moment. This reinforced my belief that God’s signs are not confined to the spiritual realm—they manifest in the physical world around us, and when we open ourselves up to these moments, we can experience a profound sense of connection and understanding.

    Divine Communication: Beyond Words

God’s communication with us goes far beyond language. While we often seek answers through prayer or meditation, the divine responds in countless ways—through dreams, feelings, visions, and even the physical world. Have you ever experienced a moment of clarity or a brilliant insight and wondered if it was true—only to look up at the night sky and, at that exact moment, see a shooting star? These moments are not coincidences. They are divine confirmations, affirmations that we are on the right path.

In many spiritual traditions, the concept of divine communication through nature is well-established. Whether it’s the rustling of leaves in the wind, the appearance of a rainbow after a storm, or the sudden calm that descends in a moment of crisis, these are all ways in which the divine reaches out to us. In Sufism, the spiritual practice I follow, there is a deep reverence for nature and the belief that God’s presence is in everything. Every leaf, every breeze, every bird is a reflection of the divine. When we pay attention, we can hear God’s voice in all of creation.

    Personal Growth Through Spiritual Awareness

These signs and moments of divine communication are not just beautiful or awe-inspiring—they are opportunities for personal growth. They remind us to slow down, to be present, and to listen to the subtle guidance that is always available to us. In my encounter with the hawk, I was reminded of the importance of awareness. Life can be chaotic, and it’s easy to get caught up in the noise of everyday existence. But when we take the time to pause, to reflect, and to pay attention to the world around us, we can experience a deeper connection to the divine and to ourselves.

This encounter also reinforced the importance of trust. Trust in the signs, trust in the journey, and trust in God’s plan. It’s easy to question whether these moments are real or just coincidences, but I’ve learned that when something resonates deeply with your soul, it’s worth paying attention to.

    Conclusion: Trusting in the Signs

As I reflect on my encounter with the hawk, I am filled with gratitude for the reminder that we are constantly in communication with the divine, even when we don’t realize it. Whether through a hawk’s gaze, a sudden insight, or the peaceful feeling that washes over us during prayer, God’s guidance is always present.

    I encourage you,
