Do you feel proud or powerful by letting other people down? It is a sign of illness. You are in a phase of mental poverty. We all should practice kindness. Let me tell you a couple of short stories.
Once I had a coworker. She did not like me since day one. I always treated her nicely.
Few times I saw her walking in the cold I stopped my Car and offered her a ride and snacks. Then again, she was waiting at the main gate and no one opened the door for her. Everyone was walking around and ignored her. I did not ignore her, instead, I opened the door for her. Slowly she changed her attitude. Last week she had made Hot Tamales and brought for me. Tamale is traditional Mexican dish.
Why did I respect her? To show the guidelines of being polite. This way she will learn.
Then another young coworker was the same way. One day our Supervisor assigned both of us a project. She was rushing me and speaking rudely. So, I spoke up. Then she changed her way. Later I asked her why are you always mean? Then she told me her story. When she was a little girl her Mom passed away. Then her Father got married. Her father used to be so rude to her at some point she lived in a foster home. She never received proper affection from her family.
There are people out there who truly don’t realize that they’re being rude. Maybe they have not learned certain social skills. In case you have faced someone like this, you may want to politely inform that they have been rude. Either you’ll get an apology right away. If not, it may just take patience or just avoid them. I have forgiven them anyway.
